Pacific Business Centers has extolled the virtues of using social media.

Social media platforms may be able to increase trade for firms using a courier delivery service, after one chief executive officer claimed networking brought his firm "meaningful business".

California-based Pacific Business Centers boss Joe Laurent Dhollande said he quickly became interested in the power of social media.

"We looked at our social media efforts as an experiment we would learn something from in a couple of years but were stunned to see that it brought us meaningful business early on," he explained.

According to the firm, small businesses who engage in social media often question the return on investment of time spent updating profiles.

It has got round this by introducing its system for using social media with no time investment - letting employees spend time on sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter during business hours.

Social networking is the main thing that increases new internet users' quality of life when they go online, according to BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
