Social media may be more useful to some firms than others, the Forum for Private Business has said.Firms using courier delivery services may be among those small to medium-sized enterprises that can benefit from social media. It seems that sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn could be of great use to some firms, but not all. This is the view of the Forum for Private Business (FPB), after a survey carried out by the organisation revealed that more than half (52 per cent) of its members use social media.FPB spokesman Phil McCabe admitted that many SMEs remain unconvinced about the usefulness of social sites. He remarked: "We believe that social media does hold a great deal of potential for many SMEs."Its conversational, real-time nature makes it ideal for entrepreneurs and small, dynamic firms which often have much more relaxed attitudes towards public relations than big corporations."Last week, Mr McCabe suggested that small firms would be well-placed to fill service areas left by public bodies after the Comprehensive Spending Review.Posted by Matt Watts Article Added: 19/10/2010 14:42:46
