A growing number of over-50s are using online retail services, new research from Just Retirement has revealed. The number of over-50s that need parcel delivery services could be on the rise, it has been suggested. Just Retirement's study found that 65 per cent of so-called silver surfers enjoy using online shopping websites, which means that many may also be seeking courier services for the safe passage of their purchases. It also found that older people enjoy other activities online, including checking their email and researching financial issues such as pensions. Nigel Barlow, head of research at Just Retirement, said: "It's inevitable that the older generation will catch up with younger age groups on online activity. "However what is interesting is the extent to which they are prepared to research online." Recent research by PayPal found that 12.9 million men bought items online during the first half of 2009, compared to just over 10 million women.Written by Sarah GowerArticle Added: 24/08/2009 15:28:57
