Sally Bellamy was shocked to learn that the postman would no longer walk on her cobbled street.A resident from the north Devon village of Bideford was left flabbergasted recently after a postman refused to deliver mail to her home as she lived on a cobbled street.Sally Bellamy was shocked to learn that the regular postman would not walk 20 yards along the path to her house because the cobbled street could pose health and safety risks, particularly in wet and icy conditions. She said that alternative parcel delivery services have no problems accessing the street and said that the whole situation is ridiculous."I've been told it's my path that is dangerous, but the slates have been there for 280 years without a problem. Courier parcels get delivered and fruit and veg gets delivered," Ms Bellamy stated.Residents in Knutsford recently expressed their dismay at Royal Mail's claim that snow and ice on the ground made it too dangerous for delivery staff to work in the area, the Knutsford Guardian reported.Posted by Rob ElliottArticle Added: 08/02/2010 09:29:57
