Royal Mail to move delivery office

Royal Mail is to move a delivery office in EdinburghA delivery office in Edinburgh is to be moved by Royal Mail later this month, it has been revealed.

An Edinburgh delivery office is to be relocated by Royal Mail later this month, according to reports.

It has been revealed that the site, which caters for both Leith and the eastern part of the Scottish capital, will be moved to refurbished premises on an industrial estate on June 29th.

Despite the plans, Edinburgh Evening News reports that the Royal Mail believes the move will not impact on parcel delivery services in the areas.

Andrew Wood, Royal Mail director for collection and delivery, told the newspaper that the site will offer improved customer service.

He added: "It will provide a modern and spacious environment with the latest sorting equipment and improved facilities for customers and our 130 employees."

News about the move has come after the Communication Workers Union claimed the part-privatisation of Royal Mail would turn the organisation into a "second-class" service.ADNFCR-2348-ID-19222221-ADNFCR
