Customers who complained to Royal Mail about lost parcels have been given compensation.New figures have revealed that Royal Mail was forced to pay compensation to residents in Hounslow and Richmond after a spate of delivery problems last year.It has been revealed that a total of £160,000 was paid out to over 10,000 people living in the TW postal area who complained about lost or damaged parcels during 2008-09.The Richmond and Twickenham Times reports that there were over 2,000 complaints about delayed deliveries alone, which suggests some people may seek post office alternatives in the future.Andrew Dakers, a Liberal Democrat councillor in Brentford, told the newspaper that Royal Mail's service was "insufficiently reliable".He added: "Given that Royal Mail faces ever mounting pressure from internet technology and competitors it is essential the service improves."Royal Mail's services are set to be affected by strike action taking place across this week.Article Added: 13/08/2009 09:26:34
