Royal Mail issues apology to North Hykeham residents

Issues in LincolnLetters have been re-sent to people living around Lincoln after an incident occurred with the employee of one sorting office.

People from Lincoln may feel like searching for Royal Mail alternatives for parcel delivery after it has been revealed that a stash of post has been withheld by one employee.

Residents from the North Hykeham area have this week been receiving cards, letters and other items of post, some up to eight months late, reports the Lincolnshire Echo.

The Royal Mail had re-packaged the items in clear plastic envelopes, complete with a letter of apology after it was found many items had been previously opened - which could put people off the Royal Mail and see them looking for parcel delivery alternatives.

Neil Dickinson, delivery office manager from the Firth Road sorting office, wrote in the letter: "I am sorry that the enclosed mail has been found in this condition after being withheld by a Royal Mail employee."

He added that "all appropriate action necessary" has been taken regarding the issue.

People in the Radford area of Coventry now have to seek out post office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs after the branch on Jubilee Crescent was closed without prior warning, according to the Coventry Telegraph.
