Some residents have not received mail for days.Residents in Oxfordshire have received an apology from Royal Mail after the adverse weather conditions affecting the region slowed parcel deliveries.Large parts of the country have been difficult to reach due to snow and ice on the ground and, as a result, parcel deliveries have been delayed and a mail backlog has built up, the Oxford Mail reports.Alan Pope, a retired postman, told the newspaper that while the weather has been bad, Royal Mail staff could still make their parcel deliveries."I was a postman for 38 years until I retired ten years ago and I would walk through snowdrifts. I can understand that rounds take longer in this weather but the postmen could still deliver the mail - the milk and papers have arrived," he said.Residents in Sunderland have also had their parcel delivery services disrupted by the weather, with heavy snowfall affecting large parts of the city, the Sunderland Echo recently reported.Posted by Mark MooreArticle Added: 11/01/2010 09:28:30
