Royal Mail accused of 'misleading' the public

Members of the public are angryResidents claim postmen have not been delivering their parcels.

Members of the public have accused the Royal Mail of misleading them by allowing postmen to deliver "Sorry, you were out" cards when they were, in fact, at home.

Several people have contacted the Daily Telegraph to say they have been waiting for parcels to arrive only to find one of the aforementioned cards on their doormat, which could lead to people exploring other parcel delivery services in the future.

Victoria King, from south London, told the newspaper that she was stood in her hall ready to go out when one of the cards came through the letter box.

"I ran out the door and chased the postman down the street, but he told me I had to go to the depot because he didn't have the parcel. It seemed bonkers," she stated.

By failing to fulfil its parcel delivery obligations in this way, the Royal Mail would be in breach of its postal licence, the newspaper adds.

Meanwhile, residents in the Beardwood area of Blackburn were furious to discover a sack of abandoned mail in a bush, the Lancashire Telegraph recently reported.
