CWU set to meet today to discuss rolling strikes.Leaders at the Communication Workers Union (CWU) are considering calling on all postal workers to launch ten days of rolling strikes which could leave a backlog of up to 100 million undelivered letters and parcels.Bosses are set to meet today (Monday) to discuss whether this is the best route to take and, if they decide it is, it would leave many people no choice but to seek alternative parcel delivery services such as those offered by Parcel2Go.Dave Ward, chief negotiator for the CWU, is set to offer the Royal Mail the chance to discuss the crisis one last time before any action is taken.A source at the union said that this will be the last chance for the two sides to sit down together and reach a compromise."If this is not taken up by the company, then that almost certainly means there will be a series of rolling strikes. The earliest they could start would be the following Monday," the insider said.In other news, a specially-commissioned survey by Sky News and the British Chambers of Commerce recently found that 93 per cent of businesses believe the Royal Mail's reputation has been severely tarnished as a result of the wave of strikes which have taken place so far.Written by Lucy PritchardArticle Added: 12/10/2009 09:36:21
