Retailers need to make sure they are set up to deal with the changes to the shopping market caused by the recession.Retailers need to change the way in which they do business to ensure they still have a place in the "new world" of shopping, it has been claimed.According to the Centre for Retail Research, the shopping world is a much different landscape than it was two years ago, due to the impact of the economic downturn.Shoppers are now more interested in saving money on purchases and are using stores "they never would have set foot in some years ago", said the centre's director Joshua Bamfield. He said that in order to cope with this change in customer sentiment, retailers may want to try and show customers that there can be an advantage to paying more for better quality goods.High street shoppers and parcel delivery customers who use online shopping sites should make sure they understand a store's returns policy before they make a purchase. It would seem that a change in customer values is not just limited to the UK, with recent figures from comScore showing that in the US, there has been a significant fall in people's allegiance to their favourite brand.Posted by Mark Moore.Article Added: 10/05/2010 09:39:01
