Residents are puzzled as to why no mail has been delivered.Durham county councillor John Shuttleworth is calling for Royal Mail to investigate why there have been no parcel deliveries in parts of the county for 20 days.Roads in the Edmundbyers, Blanchland and Hunstanworth areas have been stayed open during the bad weather, but many residents have not received any mail since December 23rd, the Northern Echo reported.Douglas Sutherland, a retired garage owner, told the newspaper that he cannot understand why other services were able to continue but the postal service ground to a halt."I can't see any reason why the post couldn't get through. The roads are quite clear. It's shocking. When I eventually got my post there was enough to fill a sack," he said.Residents in Sussex recently expressed their dismay at delays to parcel deliveries recently, with Paul Crosbie, from Felbridge, telling the Daily Mail that postmen were told not to work in the area because of icy conditions.
