Residents' anger after mail deliveries cancelled

Delivery cancellationThe Royal Mail has cancelled postal deliveries to one street in the Derbyshire village of Smalley.

Residents of one street in Derbyshire are up in arms after the Royal Mail announced it would no longer be delivering to them.

People living in Bell Lane in Smalley could be ready to look for Post Office alternatives for parcel delivery after being told they would now have to collect their own mail from the local delivery office, reports the Derby Telegraph.

The Royal Mail has suspended deliveries on the road after one postman claimed to have developed back pains due to a pothole on the road – which left him unable to work for a week.

A letter to the residents stated: "The postman jarred his back after he had driven his van down one of the potholes along Bell Lane. This resulted in him having to take the rest of the week off sick."

Post Office users in Worcester recently voiced their discontent after the local council claimed the average waiting time in queues there was four minutes.

They claim the real amount of time users need to wait to be served is far greater than these claims, the Berrow's Worcester Journal reported.
