Regional postal strikes continue

Staff across the country have gone on strikeRegional strikes take place as the postal crisis worsens.

A day after Royal Mail staff voted in favour of a national strike, workers have staged walkouts across the country, as the postal service continues to lurch into crisis.

Employees have downed tools across a number of cities, including Coventry, Leeds and Chelmsford, which could lead people living in these areas to seek alternative parcel delivery services, such as those offered by Parcel2Go.

Staff have decided to take industrial action in a dispute over pay and working conditions, with more than 60,000 union members supporting a strike on a national scale.

Other regions affected by walkouts include Kilmarnock, London, Nottingham, Swindon and Warrington, meaning people in those areas may have to use other parcel delivery services to ensure their mail reaches the intended recipient.

Meanwhile, a poll conducted by Sky News and the British Chambers of Commerce has revealed that 93 per cent of businesses believe the Royal Mail's reputation now lies in tatters following the disruption to the postal service.
