Following several complaints of undelivered parcel, Royal Mail has found the culprit.A postwoman has been caught stealing after a parcel containing 5,000 Peruvian bank notes went missing.Royal Mail had received several complaints that parcels had not been delivered and investigators decided to launch an investigation to get to the bottom of the problem.They posted a parcel containing Peruvian currency which also failed to reach its destination.Investigators then decided to check the home of postwoman Sarah Ratcliffe and found a further 3,000 unopened items of mail which she failed to deliver.Andrew Cash, prosecuting, told Southern Derbyshire magistrates that it is Royal Mail's duty to ensure that all mail it is charged with delivering reaches its destination."The public often refer to them as junk mail but what the public don't realise is the Royal Mail is paid to deliver these items and that helps to subsidise ordinary mail," he added.A dummy parcel sent out as part of an undercover investigation recently caught out a sorting office worker in Lincolnshire who was stealing packages in search of cash to ease his personal debts, thisislincolnshire.co.uk reported.Posted by Rob ElliottArticle Added: 11/01/2010 09:30:20
