Falkirk Sheriff Court hears how postman could not cope with his volumes.A postman has pleaded guilty to failing to deliver letters and parcels, claiming he could not complete his job because he had had a hard week.Gavin Bryce told Falkirk Sheriff Court that he had too much to do and decided to discard the parcels and letters at an unofficial dump, something which may convince members of the public to use Post Office alternatives.He was caught after council workers discovered the load following reports of fly-tipping and police subsequently found a further 499 undelivered items in his house and car.Prosecutor Joanne Smith said: "He stated he had had a hard week at work and that it was too much for him."Sheriff Craig Caldwell told Mr Bryce that he had let down the public, who rely on individuals like him to provide a good service, which may convince others to use Post Office alternatives, such as Parcel2Go.com, in the future.Jan Ferrari, a resident in Beckingham, recently told the Bexley Times how a postman admitted to her that he posts "sorry, you were out" cards through letter boxes because he cannot carry all the parcels he has to deliver.Posted by Sarah GowerArticle Added: 08/12/2009 09:33:52
