Royal Mail is to introduce a new four zone price structure next year, it has been ruled. The Postal Services Commission (Postcomm) has backed plans for Royal Mail to introduce a new zonal pricing policy. Ruling on its own consultation earlier this year, the body has supported the proposal made in November 2008 but called on the postal company to change several aspects of its application. In news which may affect those involved in parcel delivery, the policy will allow for four pricing zones and will not come into effect until April 2010. Royal Mail Wholesale will also be able to consult on making changes to the national access contracts, including fall to earth provisions. Details of Postcomm's decision has come after Royal Mail's Parcelforce Worldwide grew its revenues and operating profit in the 12 months to March 31st. Royal Mail Group's overall group revenue reached £9.6 billion over the period.Article Added: 15/05/2009 15:22:20
