Postal workers to strike again

Royal Mail workers are to strikeRoyal Mail staff across the UK are to take part in strike action later this week, it has been confirmed.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has confirmed that Royal Mail workers are to strike later this week.

Industrial action is to be held in areas including London, Edinburgh, Darlington, Stoke and Plymouth on Friday (July 17th), as the union's members protest against cuts and executive action by the organisation.

The move could lead to service disruption in a number of areas, meaning many people may be forced to seek post office alternatives.

Dave Ward, deputy general secretary of CWU, said problems in the postal sector "urgently need resolving".

He added: "The national day of action on Friday is in response to an ever-growing number of requests for industrial action from postal workers across the country who feel let down by Royal Mail management. We have almost 400 ballot requests at the moment with more coming daily."

Last week, postal workers in London took strike action over three days against modernisation plans for Royal Mail.
