A Communication Workers Union representative has claimed the ongoing postal strikes in the UK will cause "chaos" to deliveries.

The postal strikes taking place across the UK this week will cause "chaos" to deliveries, according to an expert.

Derek Clash, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) secretary for Bournemouth and Dorset, has claimed that Royal Mail's modernisation plans amount to "intimidation and bullying".

He added in an interview with the Bournemouth Echo that a backlog of post and parcels is likely in the coming days.

"It’s going to be a good few days before services are back to normal," he explained to newspaper.

“With other localised disputes across the country, particularly in London and Bristol, there will be chaos across the postal system."

Royal Mail recently condemned the strikes but claimed that as over 90 per cent of staff will be working normally on each day of action, efforts will be made to cut the impact of the strikes.
