Strikes will take place on Monday and Tueday of next week.

People in the Devon and Cornwall regions are the latest to suffer in the ongoing row between the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and the Royal Mail.

The CWU has announced that delivery offices in the Looe and St Austell areas will close next Monday and Tuesday, as workers walk out in protest at the Royal Mail's plans to modernise the postal service.

In addition, the delivery office in Plymouth will close as part of the industrial action, which centres around proposals by the Royal Mail to move the service into the modern era.

Employees claim that the plans will lead to pay cuts and job losses, while the Royal Mail says the work is needed to meet the changing patterns in people's parcel delivery habits.

Meanwhile, the public's opinion of the Royal Mail has plummeted in recent months as a result of the chaos caused by the postal strikes.

According to the YouGov BrandIndex, the company's Buzz, which measures whether people have heard positive or negative things about the brand, fell to a low of -14 last week.
