The Communications Worker Union has distributed ballots papers for strike action to over 120,000 postal staff.
A national ballot over further postal strike action is to take place from today, as papers have been distributed by the Communication Workers Union (CWU).
From today (September 17th), all 121,000 postal workers in the UK are set to receive the chance to vote over whether further industrial action should go ahead, as the dispute between the union and Royal Mail continues.
The ballot is set to close on October 8th and further action could see many businesses seek post office alternatives.
However, Dave Ward, deputy general secretary of the CWU, said: "Disruption is hurting small businesses and other consumers, but postal workers are suffering more than anyone in the current dispute.
"Small businesses stand to suffer more with reduced services in the future, if Royal Mail doesn't reach a national agreement."
Royal Mail has condemned the ballot, claiming it is evidence of the CWU's efforts to "renege" on existing agreements between the pair.
