Royal Mail workers have reportedly been involved in so-called Spanish practices which have disrupted services.Postal services across the UK have allegedly been affected by workers using so-called "Spanish" practices, according to reports. The Daily Telegraph has claimed it found evidence of Royal Mail employees discussing the tactics, which are designed to disrupt services, on an online forum. It claims that several strategies are outlined on the site, including "pouching off", where workers actually place mail they are unable to deliver back into postboxes, and "cutting off", when they leave post undelivered on rounds. Talking to the newspaper, Martin Walsh of the Communication Workers Union said there could be such practices taking place in the UK, but added that Royal Mail is imposing changes "which make it harder for postmen to complete their duties". Royal Mail recently condemned the CWU's plans to hold a ballot on further strike action in the UK.Written by Lucy PritchardArticle Added: 14/09/2009 15:12:39
