Hastings and Rye MP, Michael Foster, believes the Post Office should offer more services.Members of the public could soon face longer queues at the Post Office, as an MP has called for them to offer more services.Hastings and Rye MP, Michael Foster, believes the Post Office should offer some of the products that are currently provided by banks, which could see people having to wait longer for their parcel delivery needs.The government is running a consultation to canvass public opinion on what new services should be made available."I want to see more financial services at the Post Office. It will give local people access to a full range of banking products at an institution we trust and value," Mr Foster added.According to a recent study by Consumer Focus, the average wait at the Post Office is six minutes and seven seconds compared to five minutes 40 seconds last year.As well as long waiting times, customers also expressed their dismay at the fact that only 56 per cent of counter positions were open in the Post Offices visited.Posted by Mark MooreArticle Added: 26/01/2010 16:53:48
