A new report highlights the Post Office's failings.
The Post Office network could head the same way as former high street retailer Woolworths unless drastic action is taken to correct its faults, a new report has found.
According to a report conducted by the University of Chichester and West Sussex County Council, those in urban communities have been affected by Post Office closures more than those in rural parts of the country.
In addition, the study, which questioned 400 residents and 200 businesses in the West Sussex region, found many are dissatisfied with the services they offer, which could see many use alternative parcel delivery providers such as Parcel2Go.com.
"If the Post Office does not improve its customer service and recognise their needs, then I think there is a real chance that it could go the same way as Woolworths," Dr David Cooper, a principal lecturer at the university, concluded.
A study by Consumer Focus recently found that the average waiting time at the Post Office has risen to six minutes and seven seconds.
