Councillor Andrew Blackhouse has supported the campaign.The battle to keep Burniston Post Office in Scarborough from closing down is gathering pace, with members of the public and politicians joining calls for it to be kept open.Councillor Andrew Blackhouse has become the latest figure to voice his concern at the move to stop mail work at the branch, saying it is the only Post Office for miles, the Scarborough Evening News reported.He said that there are many elderly people who live in the village who rely on the outlet for their parcel delivery needs and closing it would be very inconvenient for them."The villages of Burniston and Cloughton contain many elderly residents, and not all have access to a motor vehicle.
