Pilots united by parcel delivery

Parcel delivery brings ex pilot and serving troops togetherTwo RAF pilots who served in the same division decades apart have been united by parcel delivery.

Two pilots serving in the same RAF flight have been united after one of them sent a parcel over to serving troops in Afghanistan, it has been reported.

According to a report on Sky News, Mike Bailey, who is 86, used parcel delivery to send over some supplies to troops serving overseas. He addressed the parcels to "a helicopter pilot" and when those who received the parcels wrote back, it was revealed that Mr Bailey's donations had reached men in his old squadron.

"When I read his name on the back of the envelope I couldn't believe my eyes. He is OC 1310 flight. Well, I was OC 1310 flight, in British Guyana in the 1960s," he explained.

After the parcel delivery, Mr Bailey was flown over to the RAF base by the Sky helicopter to meet the troops in his old group - the first time he has flown in more than 40 years.

Meanwhile, a group of bikers from Wiltshire recently held a charity ride to raise cash to send parcels over to serving troops.
