People with pets are looking for the most eco friendly options when spending on their dog or cat, it has been found.

Pet owners are becoming increasingly concerned about the eco footprint and green credentials of the products they buy for their cats and dogs, according to a sector magazine.

Advertisement manager at the Pet Gazette Julie-Ann Kwok said that in pet products the current "big trends" are for natural and organic items which demonstrate sound eco thinking.

"A lot of pet foods are becoming more organic; there are a number of them in the market now. There are also a lot of eco-friendly products, like a cat pod that can actually recycle," she said.

Those who do not have the time to take out of their day for shopping trips - but who are still keen to give their pet the latest products - could find online shopping useful.

With this option, parcel delivery services can bring your green pet products right to your door.

At this month's Pet and Aquatics Trade Show in Harrogate, exhibitors included Applaws, which makes all-natural pet food, and Pooch and Mutt, makers of eco-friendly supplements for pooches.
