Parcels and letters 'getting sorted in the street'

Letters being hit by strikePostal strikes resulting in mail getting sorted in the pavement.

The Royal Mail postal strikes have already created a massive backlog, according to the Communications Workers Union (CWU).

With a series of strikes currently hitting the UK, the CWU claims that the postal backlog is worse than the last national strike in 2007, reports the Daily Mail.

During the strike, some people have not received mail for over ten days, which could have forced some people to look for parcel delivery alternatives.

The postal service in Wimbledon has been particurally hard-hit and postal office managers were photographed sorting through piles of back-logged letters and parcels on the street.

One woman, who saw the on-street sorting, told the newspaper: "I was surprised to see the mail in the street and pedestrians walking over it… I've only had three bits of post in the past three weeks."

The CWU recently claimed that over 20 million parcels and mail messages are backed up in London due to the ongoing strike action.
