Parcel delivery 'used less for slow websites'

Slow websites are less likely to retain visitors for long enough to convert them into salesA new study has found slow websites are less likely to keep customers for long enough for them to make use of parcel delivery services.

Fast online retailers are the most likely to be making use of parcel delivery services, as these will be more successful, new research suggests.

Figures published by networking firm Brocade has found that slow sites often lose their customers before it comes to completing a transaction, with a third of users admitting they would give up if it took too long to close the deal.

Pop ups and overly-complicated webpages were also common reasons for customers to change to competitors, those looking at parcel delivery services may be interested to discover.

Paul Phillips, regional director for UK and Ireland at the firm, emphasises the importance of speed for online shoppers.

He says: "Online shopping has always been about convenience, but as more and more of us ditch the high street for the computer, the UK’s network infrastructure is becoming increasingly congested."

Halfords recently predicted that it will see a major online sales boom on Christmas Day, as sales attract customers from around the UK.
