Parcel delivery gives soldiers support

Parcel delivery helps lift spirit of troopsA soldier who has recently returned from Helmand has spoken of the parcels and letters he was sent while on duty.

Parcel delivery services are continuing to help British troops who are serving abroad, with one recently noting the support which soldiers feel when receiving parcels and letters.

Sergeant John Stone and Lance Corporal Daniel Stone, who are brothers, recently returned from a tour of duty with the Three Rifles in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The pair received a special welcome home from their town's mayor, Jill Shortland, and were each given a plaque honouring their contribution to the war effort.

Speaking to the BBC, Sergeant John Stone said that the support received from people in their hometown of Chard had been "really moving".

"It has been surprising the support we've had throughout, not just from family, but from people we don't know, the welfare parcels, the letters from well wishers," he said.

Parcel delivery services are often utilised to send items to troops serving abroad, to boost morale and help them stay in touch with loved ones back in the UK.
