Parcel delivery firm announces Vietnam plans

UPS to expand operations in AsiaThe world's biggest parcel delivery firm, UPS, has announced Vietnam expansion plans.

Parcel delivery firm UPS has announced it is to expands its operations in Vietnam with a team up with another postal firm.

UPS and P&T Express have together formed UPS Vietnam and the firm is set to make moves into the Asian market aimed at growing the UPS name and reach on the continent. As part of the new venture, parcel delivery services will be expanded, with the company planning on offering later pick-up and cut-off times.

As well as this, 63 provinces of Vietnam will now be able to benefit from its express pickup and delivery service.

"With this joint stock company and the strong relationship we have with our local service partner, UPS gains greater flexibility to grow transportation and logistics capabilities in Vietnam," commented Derek Woodward, president of the Asia Pacific Region for the parcel delivery firm.

UPS recently announced a rise in its international profits of 45 per cent for the first quarter of 2010.
