Parcel delivery customers advised to wait to order in light of volcano ash chaos.

Those who use overseas parcel delivery services have been given tips on how to cope with the aftermath of the recent volcano eruption in Iceland.

After a glacier volcano erupted in the country, flights all across the globe were grounded for almost a week, leaving thousands of Brits stranded abroad and parcels and letters unable to be delivered overseas.

Now, as flights return to normal, parcel delivery service users may find it wise to hold off from ordering their goods for a few days, an expert has told the This is Cornwall.

"Don't get hung up on perceived deadlines and be realistic and honest about the importance of your parcel in the grand scheme of things this week," said Sandra Patterson, managing director of Boxby.co.uk.

She urged people to delay ordering until they are absolutely sure that their parcel delivery service is once again able to use delivery flights - and if a parcel really is urgent, then customers should use a solely land-based firm, Ms Patterson said.
