Opinion of the Royal Mail plummets

The strikes have hurt the Royal MailYouGov BrandIndex shows the nation's opinion of the Royal Mail has been damaged by recent events.

The Royal Mail's reputation has been damaged by the latest postal strikes, which have brought the nation's postal services to a halt.

According to the YouGov BrandIndex, the company's Buzz, which measures whether people have heard positive or negative things about the brand, fell to a low of -14 last week.

This is the lowest Buzz rating for the firm in the past six months, with the industrial action over jobs, pay and services damaging the Royal Mail's standing with the public.

Marketing Week reports that the corporate BrandIndex rating for the company has also fallen from a high of 17 to eight.

The Royal Mail's average index, which takes into account all of the ratings, remained steady over the last six months, the source adds.

In other news, credit card holders could face a total of £150 million worth of penalty charges thanks to the strike action, as many people's payments may not reach lenders before the deadline required.
