Javelin Strategy & Research predicts the amount of money spent online will increase in the coming months.The amount of money spent online is expected to rise during the second quarter of 2009, according to new research.A study by Javelin Strategy & Research, entitled the eBillme Online Spending Index, estimates that consumer spending online will increase eight per cent to an average of $267 (£183) per person during the period.This figure is up from $247 during the first quarter of 2009 and could result in a related increase in international package delivery.Bruce Cundiff, director of payments research and consulting for Javelin, said consumers are now spending "more responsibly and with caution" on the internet.He added: "The slight uptick in online spending this quarter is further evidence that the online retail sector is better withstanding the economic conditions."The Coremetrics March 2009 Benchmark Report recently showed the amount of items bought online during the month increased by 12 per cent from the previous month.It also found the average number of items per order increased by 6.9 per cent compared to figures from February.Article Added: 22/04/2009 10:21:47
