IMRG director of operations David Smith says online retail is growing in popularity.Consumers have become more savvy when it comes to online retail, with more people confident in buying goods over the internet, an expert has claimed.David Smith, director of operations at the Interactive Retail in Media Group (IMRG), said that a combination of secure payment methods and increasing confidence with modern technology means people are happy to make purchases online.Another trend he identified is that many are using the internet to shop around and compare prices before parting with their money."I think a lot of it is to do with how we are changing as people and being a lot more comfortable with the technology that surrounds us. It has enabled us to shop online with confidence," Mr Smith said.A study by the IMRG recently found that 85 per cent of firms believe that the national postal strikes have dissuaded consumers from buying goods over the internet, despite the fact there are alternative parcel delivery providers such as Parcel2Go.com which can get items delivered quickly.Written by Rob ElliottArticle Added: 05/11/2009 09:30:19
