New figures have revealed that online retail sales fell slightly in June compared to the previous month.Overall online sales in the UK suffered a small drop during last month, according to the latest figures.IMRG Capgemini's latest sales index revealed that the sector experienced a 1.3 per cent fall when compared to the previous month, although year-on-year sales for the period were up by 12.3 per cent.It was also revealed that UK shoppers spent £22.9 billion online in the first half of this year, which suggests that the number of people needing parcel delivery services remained high.Mike Petevinos, head of consulting for retail for Capgemini UK, said: "The online sales results for the first half of 2009 show a slight slowing of growth, as the recession weakens consumer spending on the web."Former high street brand Woolworths has recently given a new lease of life online thanks to Shop Direct Group, which has resurrected the name for a shopping website.Article Added: 20/07/2009 09:23:42
