The online retail sector grew by 14 per cent in April, according to the latest IMRG/Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index.New research has revealed that the online retail sector grew by 14 per cent in April compared to 12 months earlier. According to the IMRG/Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, a total of £200 billion has now been spent online since the regular survey was first published around nine years ago. It was also found that the value of the average online shopping basket has grown to £131.76, which suggests the number of parcel deliveries in the UK to consumers is set to increase. Tina Spooner, director of information at IMRG, said online retail has become "a way of life for many". She added: "Internet shopping is clearly the bright spot in the UK retail sector but this industry is still young and has great potential for further growth." Recent figures from Performics revealed that 60 per cent of people plan to spend the same or more online in the next 60 days than they did 12 months ago.Article Added: 18/05/2009 16:15:23
