More people bought items online in March when compared with the same month in 2009, new figures have showed.
Online sales rose sharply last month, according to new sector figures.
Numbers published in a report by the British Retail Consortium and KPMG showed that in March this year, non-food non-store sales - which includes purchases made online - are almost 16 per cent higher when compared with the same month last year.
While Easter was a boost for the online sector, sales were also helped along by discounts and special promotions, the report said.
The study also revealed that as a nation, we are still remaining cautious over spending money on non-essential items such as clothing and footwear. However, sales of homewares rose in March, showing that Brits are still willing to part with their cash.

Even busy celebrities turn to parcel delivery sometimes, with socialite Jemima Khan recently confessing to buying all that she can from the internet.
