Online retailers 'should sell via eBay'

eBay can be a useful tool for online retailerseBay can help generate extra revenues for online retailers.

Establishing a presence on ecommerce site eBay could create a lucrative revenue stream for online retailers, it has been claimed.

According to online solutions firm Advansys, eBay's application programming interface (API) allows ecommerce businesses to take advantage of the website's selling tools and maximise sales revenue from them.

The company also recommends templating, as this allows products listed on the retailer's site to be parallel listed on eBay, giving consumers an overview of what the business has to offer.

"eBay [does] … have an API that allows savvy ecommerce companies to exploit the capabilities of the eBay system and create streamlined listings tools and other forms of integration to make profiting from eBay sales easier and quicker," the firm added.

In addition to exploring eBay as a possible revenue stream, online retailers could also take advantage of Facebook, according to Tim Gibbon, co-founder and editor of the Social Media Portal.

He stated that storefront applications on the network could turn it into one of the most significant destinations for online retail.
