David Smith, director of operations at the Interactive Media in Retail Group, says online retail is growing in the UK.
The popularity of online retail in the UK looks set to increase in the coming years, with consumers keen to buy goods on the web for a number of reasons.
David Smith, director of operations at the Interactive Media in Retail Group, claimed that the accessibility of credit is a major factor, making it easier for people to purchase items via the internet.
Geography is another reason behind its popularity, with the layout of the UK making it easier for courier services to move from city to city in relatively little time.
"The spread of the UK also helps in terms of deliveries. We don't live very far from one another, so if retailers are looking to distribute to consumers that's very easy," Mr Smith stated.
According to research for Kelkoo, conducted by the Centre for Retail Research, the UK accounted for almost a third of all online retail transactions in Europe last year.
