Baby boomers are using Facebook and Twitter.Parcel delivery firms linked to social media sites may find it is not just young people who can see their adverts. The baby boom generation is also now increasingly social media-savvy, according to joint report from CBS and USA Today that looks at the state of the nation's older generation. Online grandparents are turning to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with grandchildren and children who are increasingly eschewing the telephone, the reports says. CBS and USA Today quote a study from Pew Internet and American Life project showing that a quarter (26 per cent) of internet users aged over 65 are active with social media. The same survey showed that half of online adults aged between 50 and 64 years of age use Facebook or LinkedIn. In a recent interview CBS, media expert Brian Solis explained what is motivating the trend: "The ability to reconnect with family and old friendships is the primary driver that [causes] boomers to start to experiment with Facebook."
