Norfolk Post Office loses fight to stay open

Locals will have to use alternative parcel delivery servicesBeeston Post Office has lost its battle to stay open.

Those in the village of Beeston, near Dereham in Norfolk, will need to use Post Office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs from now on after the local Post Office announced it is to close.

The Post Office has battled to stay open for some time but the owners have conceded that it is not economically viable to continue, the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press reports.

A notice in the shop window apologised to local residents and explained the reasons behind the decision to shut its doors.

"We feel that we can no longer fight all and sundry in our attempts to keep the shop open along with the declining turnover and increased supermarket competition. We can no longer survive the losses the shop is making," the sign read.

A spokesperson for Post Office Ltd also apologised to the local community, which will now have to use the services of alternative parcel delivery providers such as Parcel2Go.com.

The Leader recently reported that elderly residents in a Flintshire village have been left distressed at the closure of the Northop Hall Village Post Office.
