The majority of online retailers are not concerned about their future prospects, it has been claimed.

Online retailers are confident they will continue to grow in the near future, according to an expert.

Don Davis, editor at online publication Internet Retailer, has claimed that there is "no sense of panic" among such firms as they have not changed their operations despite the current financial climate.

His comments suggest that the number of parcel deliveries made from such companies could increase in the near future.

"They are pretty much universally optimistic," he explained.

"Many are being cautious in terms of buying, and in some cases they have put off major investments, but they're also watching carefully for signs that the economy as a whole is rebounding so that they don't get caught with too little inventory."

Recent figures from Forrester Research found that 54 per cent of retailers expect the online sector to grow in the next year.
