The outlet will benefit manyCouncillor Jackie Ellis-Martin says the move will be welcomed by many.

The decision to move a Post Office from Launceston to Newport will be welcomed by residents in the latter town, it has been claimed.

Councillor Jackie Ellis-Martin told thisiscornwall.co.uk that while some people may find it inconvenient, others, particularly the elderly, will be pleased to have facilities close by.

Many people in the Launceston area have voiced their concern at the proposals, although they could use alternative parcel delivery services should the move inconvenience them in any way.

Ms Ellis-Martin told the news provider: "The residents, businesses and old people of Newport would be delighted."

She received support from councillor Mary Williams, who agreed that the proposals will bring wide-ranging benefits for many.

In other news, villagers in Ridgeway, Stoke-on-Trent, are rejoicing after they won the fight to replace an 80-year-old post box which was removed from the area recently, thisisstaffordshire.co.uk reported.
