NASA's social media strategy is showing the way.Retailers using parcel delivery and courier services to distribute their products may want to look to NASA for tips on the use of social media. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), emerged ahead of the White House in a poll of public sector organisations using social media conducted by a team from the think tank L2, New York University (NYU) and the George Washington University School of Business. NASA was said to be the clear leader and is innovating on every platform, with its lead over second place the largest yet seen in any L2 Digital IQ Index. NYU's professor Scott Galloway said: "The advent of the social web has fundamentally changed our nation's public sector organisations "We're likely to see a transfer in power and influence from organisations that are digitally inept to those who are digitally deft." The study also noted the dominance of Facebook, with the organisations polled driving 13 per cent of their traffic from the social networking site. Last week, thegrocer.co.uk reported the comments of Today's Group chairman Bill Laird, who said that social media will be a key driver of business in the future.
