More postal strikes hit the UK

Strikes are set to take place across the UKPeople across the UK may be looking for post office alternatives over the next week as more strikes involving Royal Mail workers get underway.

Industrial action organised by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) is set to affect postal services across the UK, it has been announced.

Royal Mail workers are set to take part in a series of strikes that the union has described as its "biggest week" of action ever, with 20,000 people expected to leave their posts.

The action could lead to major disruption of the body's parcel delivery services, with many expected to turn to post office alternatives over the period.

Dave Ward, CWU deputy general secretary, said: "It won't be long before services are dramatically affected.

"However, while Royal Mail refuses to acknowledge the serious issues facing its own employees we feel there is no alternative but to press ahead with a national strike ballot."

The CWU previously held a week of strikes earlier this month.
