Mail found dumped in Warrington gardens

Mail was found dumped in Walton GardensA member of the public found 30 bags of abandoned mail.

A man has been arrested after a member of the public found 30 bags of mail dumped in Walton Gardens in Warrington on Sunday, it has been reported.

The mail was discovered in Walton Gardens, Appleton, by a walker and the police contacted Royal Mail shortly afterwards to find the culprit, according to the Warrington Guardian.

A police spokeswoman told the newspaper that the bags had been there for some time, a fact that may encourage others to use the services of alternative parcel delivery providers, such as Parcel2Go.com.

"They were wet so had been there a while and they were still tied up. We made enquiries with Royal Mail and a man was arrested that day," the representative said.

A Royal Mail spokesman apologised for the incident and said the company is working closely with police to get to the bottom of the incident.

Residents in the Beardwood area of Blackburn recently vented their anger at a similar situation, when members of the public discovered a black bin bag full of mail dumped in a bush, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.
