Growing numbers of well-off Brits are using eBay to snap up top quality items for lower prices in the wake of the recession, research shows.EBay parcel delivery is proving itself to be the cut-price saviour for many well-off shoppers keen to save money during the recession. The ecommerce site has proved popular among customers that still demand top quality clothes to keep up appearances, but who still need to cut down on costs. This "new breed of reduced wealth shoppers" are still flaunting labels, according to eBay Outlet spokesperson Ruth Szyszkowski, but are "keeping the price tag hidden". She explained: "They're people who still want to go to all of the leading social occasions looking like a million dollars - but at a quarter of the price. "Many attending Ascot and Henley this year will have paid up to 70 per cent less for their stunning outfits than the person standing next to them." EBay becomes particularly popular with shoppers around Christmas time, according to recent research by the online marketplace. Data indicates that 14 gifts were sold every second on eBay.co.uk last Christmas, with many Brits undoubtedly taking advantage of the cut prices offered by shops such as Zavvi, House of Fraser and Kookai online.
