The UK's longest-serving post mistress talks about her 68 years behind the counter.

The UK's longest-serving postmistress has spoken about her 68 years behind the counter of the Claverley Post Office in the Midlands.

Kathleen White, 82, has been working in the Post Office, which is near to Wolverhampton, since she was 15 years old. She took over the sub-postmistress role in 1960 and has been in the job for five decades.

"I love meeting people and I love talking so it’s the perfect job, although it’s more of a dedication than a job really," she told the Express and Star.

Ms White gets up every single day at 6.45 am GMT to run the Post Office and said she has no plans to retire soon.

According to Ms White, one of the highlights of her 68 years in the business was attending a tea party at Buckingham Palace to honour her service to Claverley.

Meanwhile, a number of postal workers in Leeds recently started to boycott their letter and parcel delivery to a certain house after a grumpy cat, Tiger, kept attacking them.
