Around 16,000 postal workers across London are threatening to strike within the next month, it has been announced. The Communication Workers' Union (CWU) has confirmed that postal workers across London are considering a strike over proposed cutbacks. Up to 16,000 people are expected to take part in the action in a month's time, which could lead consumers in the capital to consider alternative parcel delivery options over the period. Staff will leave positions across almost 160 depots in the city, which will include delivery officers and distribution hubs. John Simkins, the CWU representative for London, said papers have been sent out so workers can vote on the issues. He added: "We know we will get a yes vote, we are getting some really good feedback." Last weekend, over 250 postal workers in some areas of Scotland held a strike over Royal Mail's plans to reorganise delivery operations in the area.Article Added: 13/05/2009 09:26:56
